The Caliphate

The Caliphate (خِلافة), or "The Second Caliphate", came into existence during the tumultuous years of Earth's "Second Dark Age" following World War III and The Great Famine. After the holy peace (Salam Eazim), when Sunni and Shia joined together politically, several Muslim nations either joined or were assimilated into the Caliphate, reaching its peak sometime around 2110.

In response to discovery of the first quantum stargate in 2098, the Caliphate declared a universe-spanning Dawah. This led to the foundation of a relatively successful mission on Raana being founded during the mid 23rd century. However only a couple of thousands muslims remain in Ikaanos today, as most of their kind settled on Gandaria, a continent that lost all communications with Irendoria several centuries ago.

The Caliphate remains represented on Raana today as a faction within The Republic, its HQ, the beautiful Great Mosque of Ikaanos, in the Procoms district.
