Mastersphere

The Mastersphere originated as a colony ship that passed through the Celassi quantum gate and entered orbit around planet Raana around 250 years ago. It was a modified space dreadnought — the USS Seneca – and carried the second wave of colonists. Named after the first colony ship sent to the planet, which hadn't been heard from since crashing near present day Ikaanos. Onboard was an optimistic gathering of 5812 men and women from diverse socioeconomic groups, with a wide range of academic and professional skills.

It remains now as a space station orbiting Raana, from which the decadent "Spheremasters" exert control over Ikaanos whilst living in unimaginable luxury. There are at least five spaceshuttles connecting it to the planet. The station's ion cannons have been used to devastating effect to maintain the corrupt rule of the Council, however it is rumored their plasma batteries are now depleted.
