The Armor Store
The Armor Store

Owned by Karl Cyker, son of Kalmani Cyker, the Westside Armor Store sells custom-fitted low-to-mid tier armor for men and women both. The store's claim to fame is the famous Cyker Inc. Combat Armor, manufactured locally at the Westside Assembly Plant, which is owned by Karl's father. The store sources its other merchandise from trade caravans with the Kingdom of David and local leather workshops.

In addition to the armor itself, customers can also purchase a Chitin coating or upgraded Tokyo plates for their Combat Armor. They also provide an invaluable armor repair service, same-day service, and take only a couple of hours. (Armor requires repair after combat; it quickly gets damaged to the point of uselessness.)

Opening Hours

The Armor store opens at 7:15 am and closes at 8:15 pm each day.

Services

Armors

The Westside Armor Store sells a variety of armors that can be custom-fitted for both male and female customers. Fitting a suit of armor may take up to three hours. Prices change according to varying economic conditions and the security situation, but base prices are as follows:

  • Padded Suit: $200
  • Leather Armor: $400
  • Heavy Leather Armor: $900
  • Combat Armor: $2,800

See the Armors page for detailed stats.

Repairs

Repairs take one to three hours, depending on the type of armor, and vary in price depending on the armor. But the repair price is not affected by the condition of the armor.

  • Padded Leather: $10
  • Leather: $30
  • Heavy Leather: $60
  • Combat Armor: $250
  • Combat Weave: $2,000
  • Duraplate: $2,500
  • Stealth Armor: n/a
  • H.U.L.C. suits: no.

Upgrades

Combat Armor can be upgraded in two ways. The first is a coating of tough but malleable Chitin harvested from the exoskeletons of some of Raana's oversized marine creatures, which costs $1,500 and adds +6 to the armor's soak. The second is completely replacing the armor's chest plates with DuraSteel plates manufactured in New Tokyo, which costs $3,500 and adds +9 to soak. These upgrades can not be repaired, but have to be replaced when degraded to the point of uselessness after a few heavy hits. Also, chitin is never applied on top of Tokyo plates, as it doesn't effectively add to the protection afforded by steel plates, so it would just be adding weight uselessly.

Sellable Goods

The player can sell leather (prepared from skins obtained from Hunting) to this store; they always need more for making into suits of armor.

  • Leather: $18/unit
