The hunting mechanics in Masters of Raana entail a lot of different aspects that a survivalist must take into consideration.
NOTE! This is an Alpha Server/0.7.9 feature!
Finding a good spot
The red antlers icon indicates that there is a hunting location. Each location is unique with its own set of texts, events and skill prerequisites. It might take some exploration before you find that perfect spot best suited for your playstyle.
Animal pool
Each spot has a unique pool that tells the area's abundance or scarcity when it comes to huntable game. A low value (2 or below) means a hunter suffers a severe penalty. On the other hand, an area with an animal pool of 8 or higher, means the forests are rich in game.
The animal pool usually replenishes with up to one point per day.
Preparations
Before starting a hunting session (Cost: 2 hours, 5 Stamina points, 5 ammo), you must choose your preferred weapon and hunting method.
Weapons
- Rifle: (Chance +5)
- Shotgun: (Chance +12 when hunting small game, less skins/pelt yield)
- Crossbow: (Chance -9, higher skins/pelt yield)
Hunting methods
- Search prey: (greater success chance during rainy days, lower success chance during sunny days, greater success chance right before dusk)
- Stand hunting: (lower success chance during rainy days, greater success chance right after dawn)
- Decoy: (greater success chance during warm and sunny days)
Yields
Hunting provides you with skins , pelts and raw meat that you'll be able to either refine or sell directly to vendors.
