The MC
After going through a rough couple of years, MoR's main character (MC) has just inherited a house from his brother – who mysteriously disappeared after handing in a note of property transfer to the local magistrate. Who our MC was before that is completely up to you, however. The character creation process provides you with a set of decent skills that'll help you survive the dangerous world of Raana. Pick whatever suits you best – it doesn’t matter if you choose to be a rugged freebooter, an academy professor or a jack-of-all-trades – the coin will come to all enterprising men.
Parents' background
This part is pretty self-explanatory. Your parents, once proud owners of the deteriorated house you're currently occupying, could've served Ikaanos as professors, doctors, soldiers, thieves or big-game hunters. You can either Embrace or Revolt against your parents' chosen lifestyle. Embrace provides a boost to all skills within that profession, while Revolt gives you a larger skill spread (jack-of-all-trades style). Picking your parents' background doesn't lock you into a specific profession. You can freely increase skills that are unrelated to their profession once the game starts.
Troublesome event
This part of the character creation process explains why you've been having a rough couple of years. They provide you with a special skill boost and a disadvantage. Some backgrounds might also change the way NPCs talk to you – or offer special jobs/assignments during game play.
Traits
You're able to pick three normal traits and two sexual traits that'll further increase your skills/Attributes or give you various boons during gameplay. There are roughly
Age
Selecting age provides further boosts and disadvantages to your character. If you're planning an Academic playthrough, best would be to choose the "Middle-aged" option. Pure combat playthroughs benefit from choosing "Young" etc. The effects from Age are pretty minor, however, and can be compensated in other ways – such as training, implants and reaching a high-enough Influence.
