The Ikaanian colony is a dynamic city-state that could potentially change its prosperity, stability and corruption during your playthrough, either due to random events, spiraling chain-events or the player's active participation in political actions.

Prosperity

Ikaanos' Prosperity value determines the affluence and economical strength of its inhabitants, primarily affecting prices and Fishing/Hunting actions.

Destitution (4 or less)

Wide-spread starvation, rampart poverty and failing economies everywhere. The city's population is dwindling either due to migration, disease or violence.

Poverty (5-14)

The lower classes are starving and trade businesses suffer due to low demand in goods and services. The city's population is stagnant.

Hardship (15-24)

The lower classes are having a hard time and the rampart povery is beginning to show even with the middle classes, who have to monitor their expenditures wisely.

Normal (25-74)

Life is hard in Ikaanos but most people get by and starvation is almost non-existent.

Affluence (75-89)

Crops have been good and even the lower classes can sometimes enjoy a café latte or a pair of extra tools from the market.

Abundance (90+)

Ikaanos is prospering - there's enough food for everyone and bandit factions and raider spawns are either limited or completely disabled - as long as Control is "Normal" or above.

How to increase Prosperity

  • Through random Political Events.
  • Donating 2,000 food rations (200 x10) to the Orphanage in Marston Swamps raises Prosperity one point up to a maximum of 75.
  • Donating 3,000 food rations to the city from Burakumin village raises Prosperity one point up to a maximum of 90.
  • Maxing Aimee's store's "Merchandise" has a 5% chance to raise Prosperity one point/day up to a maximum of 70.
  • Investing in Kasey's Park's tradesmen has a 5% chance to raise Prosperity one point/day up to a maximum of 70.
  • Investing in Imogen's Barrow's merchants has a 5% chance to raise Prosperity one point/day up to a maximum of 70.

How to decrease Prosperity

Control

The Control Value determines the general security of Ikaanos as well as bandit/raider spawns and the willingness of merchants to make investments and develop their businesses.

Anarchy (4 or less)

Ikaanos has been invaded by rebels and other raider gangs. Skyguard police force has started to dissolve. Only Crystal Island is safe from ambushes and spawning bandits. Shops in Westside and Redhaven are either closed or have limited opening hours. Requirement for entering Crystal Heights is 10,000 Influence points at this level of Control!

Disorder (5-24)

Rebels and raider gangs have festered in Westside and Redhaven. There's a small ambush chance when traversing south from Marston Avenue.

Normal (25-74)

Raiders are confined to Westside slums.

Order (75-89)

The spawn chance for raider strongholds is greatly decreased. Skyguard gains more and more control each day and merchants can safely traverse the streets of Ikaanos. The reward for high level bounties slightly decreased.

Peace (90+)

Pax Ikaanica. Most raider spawns are disabled. Businesses are thriving.

How to increase Control

  • By granting weapons to Skyguard HQ in Hamilton Square (Fort Hamilton). Gains vary depending on type and amount of weapons.
  • By having NPCs on guard duty. Guard pool value ÷ 2 = % chance for +1 Control up to a maximum of 75.
  • By defeating powerful raider gangs, highwaymen or other quest-related bandit groups.
  • By lowering the Bandit faction's number of fighters. After dropping to 7,500 or less, there's a 10% chance to increase Control one point per day up to a maximum of 75.
  • Random Political Events will often increase Control..

How to decrease Control

  • By providing weapons (Coilguns and Automatic rifles) or donating ($100,000) to the Bandit Faction's HQ in The Underworld.
  • If you avoid wiping out the Urban Titans gang they have a 10% chance of lowering Control each day they are active.
  • If you invest $90,000 in the Wrool Cat Wranglers they will have a 10% of lowering Control each day.
  • Random Political Events will also lower Control frequently.
  • Certain deranged captives, if set loose rather than being killed, cured or incarcerated, might lower Control, especially if equipped with Stealth Armor before release.

Corruption

While Control and Prosperity are purely political values, Ikaanos' societal Corruption (not to be confused with the MC's Household Corruption value) is of a more cultural nature, showing the status of the city's general depravity and decadence.

Puritan (9 or less)

Sound religious beliefs are actively purging the city from its former orgy-loving immorality. Sex before marriage is frowned upon and anything other than missionary sex is formally prohibited. Prostitution has been banned and clubs like The Velvet Room are only open for the nobility (50,000+ Influence).

Orthodox (10-24)

The state and the church are actively preaching about the importance of wholesome traditions. Clubs like The Velvet Room now require at least 10,000 Influence to enter.

Normal (25-74)

While some cults and free-slave organizations try to spread the puritan ways, there's no active resistance toward depraved sex, prostitution, orgies or sexual slavery from the Church or The Republic.

Decadent (75-89)

Immoral sex is encouraged by culture and a blowjob is as normal as taking a coffee together with a dear friend.

Perverted (90+)

Ikaanian culture has transformed into a shameless display of depravity. Nothing is too immoral when it comes to sex and Bondage is seen as a fine cultural skill - just like any other art.

  • Slaves with Pure, Vanilla and Shamefast Traits suffer daily Happiness losses.
  • Slaves will undress and wear harnesses without objections.

  • Selling a highly Corrupted girl on the slave market (Corruption 80+) instantly raises Ikaanos' Corruption with one point up to a maximum of 70.
  • 0823: Having a home with Household Corruption 500+ has a 10% chance to increase Corruption (Ikaanos) with one point per day up to a maximum of 90. ((Delete after 0.8.3 Public release))
  • 0.8.3+: Having a Household Corruption of 150+ and Influence:
    • 10,000+: has a 3% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 50.
    • 15,000+: has a 5% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 50.
    • 25,000+: has a 10% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 50.
    • 35,000+: has a 15% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 60.
    • 50,000+: has a 20% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 60.
    • 100,000+: has a 35% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 75.
    • 250,000+: has a 75% chance of increasing City Corruption with one point per day up to a maximum of 75.

A successful "Corruption roll" costs 2 Household Corruption points.

How to decrease Corruption

  • Through random Political Events.
  • Corruption is automatically decreased with one point (to a minimum of 30) if you donate $100,000 to the cathedral in Crystal Hills. This action requires a Catholic Power Value of 200+.

Liberty

Liberty is a measure of the power of Ikaanos' justice systems and the city's equality and authoritarian might. A low Liberty value means there's an abundance of slavery and economic disparity. A high value means that democratic values are abundant.

Totalitarian (4 or less)

Slavery is a vital part of society and highly encouraged for houselords who wish to increase their power. -25% slave market costs.

Feudal (5-24)

Slavery is a vital part of society. -10% slave market costs.

Limited (25-74)

No effects. Slavery is a natural part of society.

Democracy (75-89)

Slavery is still an existing part of society but having slaves (not convicts) in your household will decrease your Influence with one point per day, per slave NPC. Slaves are becoming less and less common, which means a +25% price modification on all slave markets.

Full Democracy (90+)
