OLD. IGNORE
Use this page: NPCs.
Not every individual you come into contact with will be useful in combat. Even in a savage and untamed world, society demands other skills from people in order to be able to survive. These roles are filed by civilians, Issids (hired servants) who find themselves under your patronage or employment in non-combat roles.
Like mercenaries, they can be hired for an upfront, contract fee, and require you to pay a daily fee for each day you keep them under your patronage. When you do, they join your household, where they will be available for assignment. They're generally cheaper than mercenaries but otherwise behave exactly the same, and can be interacted with and dismissed at your leisure.
There are currently five different roles that they can be assigned to:
- Whore: Produces money. A character can only be given this assignment if female AND has high corruption.
- Accountant: Also produces money, but by increasing yield from business investments, and so it is dependent on those investments.
- Scavenger: Produces a few units of merchandise every day. Despite the nature of Raana, this assignment isn't dangerous.
- Janitor: Produces influence.
- Student: Doesn't produce anything, in fact it costs money, but increases intelligence and education for the character, making him/her more effective in the future.
It's possible, of course, to assign them to guard duty, but this is considered a combat role and thus, they're not effective at it.
Also keep in mind that the list is always expanding, and more household roles for Issids are planned in the future.
